Boat Name Humor

You found the boat of your dreams, it’s time to pick a boat name! Most new built boats will be name free, while pre-owned boats will already have a name for themselves. Today, many boat owners prefer to create a unique name for their boat. At times, boaters will love the name of their vessel so much, that they will reserve the rights to the name.

There are quite a few factors to consider when choosing your boat name. The first factor to consider is what kind of boat do you have? Is it a sailboat, a speedboat, a fishing boat or a motor yacht? The second factor to consider is what will the vessel be used for? Family vacations, weekend getaways with friends, rest and relaxation or the party spot. The third factor to consider is how will the name read and sound to others? Don’t forget there are situations you will need to repeat the name over the VHF for all to hear.

Boat names tend to fall into certain categories based on their owners. Greek mythology is a popular category in the boat naming world (Aphrodite and Poseidon). The unfavorable situation of divorce and legal battles seems to be a trend in boat naming (She Got The House and My Alimony). There is always the overt sexual nature names out there (Happy Hooker and Master Baiter). Another popular category is for your movie enthusiasts (The Codfather). In the end, it is your boat, your pride, your joy, your weekend getaway, your home away from home, your choice! Happy naming!
