Yachting in America on the Fourth of July

This article was published on: July 2, 2013

Boating 4th of julyI just got back in the office after going to show a 70′ Maiora yacht that we have for sale, and as I was passing back over the small bridge just East of the 17th Street draw bridge here in Fort Lauderdale I looked down the canal and did not see the normal line of yachts along the dock. It was the first time that I had seen the entire dock empty. Then I realized that this was a holiday week to remember the Fourth of July holiday and many boaters had already taken the week aboard their yacht in celebration. Florida YachtAround the country, countless boaters will be taking to the water to celebrate the 4th of July. Some of the most impressive firework displays seem to be around the water which makes it perfect to enjoy the spectacle aboard your boat. One of the most monumental displays is the New York City show which is along the East River and southern tip of the island of Manhattan. The water ways will be full of boats, private and public alike, overflowing with happy spectators. Another metropolis display is over in San Francisco where the bay plays host to the city’s celebration. Of course, we can not forget about our own local displays in Miami and Fort Lauderdale where the cities play background to a beautiful show. Then again…some of those yachts may have simply escaped to the peace and tranquility of the Bahamas to enjoy the privacy that only yachting can provide. How are you going to spend the 4th of July?
