At just over 590 feet, the yacht known as “Project Azzam” has been launched and is now the largest privately owned yacht in the world. She beats out the current title holder, “Eclipse,” by an amazing 54′. Engineer Mubarak Saad al Ahbabi personally assembled a world-class team and lead them in all areas of development of this sophisticated project. It was under his leadership that Azzam was developed from her original concept to her final requirements in general layout, performance, size and exterior style. The ideas started as a thought to build a luxurious large yacht which would feature a timeless and innovative design and could travel at high speed, even in warm and shallow waters, while still providing sophisticated and luxurious accommodation for guests. Working alongside Mr. al Ahbabi, Azzam’s techincal engineering was developed by Lurssen, her exterior by Nauta Yachts, and her interior styling by Christophe Leoni, which all combines to present the most challenging and complex yacht ever built.
This yacht breaks new ground in many ways. From technology, to diemensions, and performance this yacht is state-of-the-art. Aside from being the largest yacht in the world (at an unprecedented 180 meters) and aside from being built in a record amount of time (having spent just three years in build followed by one year of engineering) she can still hit speeds of over 30 knots!
