The Miami Yacht and Brokerage Show is almost here, and there are plenty of special events to enjoy this year. The scenic Miami waterways, known as the ‘American Riviera,’ will be filled with yachts, mega yachts, people and activities throughout the five-day event. The show will feature over 500 new and used yachts for sale and many international yacht brokers, undoubtedly drawing a large crowd to the ever popular Collins Avenue. A new portion of the show this year will feature Mega Yacht Row, which will include 20 of the largest luxury yachts.
The official kick-off party, “I’ve got a Caribbean Soul,” will be held Wednesday, February 16, 2011, from 6-9pm. A special evening indeed, proceeds from ticket purchases will benefit Shake-A-Leg Miami, an organization that teaches the disabled how to sail, and help overcome their handicaps. Henry Horgan, Founder and President of Shake-a-Leg Miami, said “This event helps our organization continue its fine work of helping children and adults overcome their physical, developmental, and economic challenges.” Another charity event will be held February 18th, hosted by the International SeaKeepers Society, “A Scientific Journey: Protecting our Seas.” Guests will be able to tour the research yacht Golden Shadow, part of a truly elegant outreach event to raise awareness and to fundraise.
Along with the parties, there will be interactive events as well. IFGA School of Sport fishing, presented by IMTRA Marine, will be hosting eight “mini sessions” on site with some of the best captains and professional anglers throughout the weekend.
