Clear Group International has announced the formal launch of Ports of CauseTM (POC), an innovative new philanthropic superyachting enterprise that will showcase exceptional superyacht design, technology, and innovation. The ambitious project will demonstrate the good will of the luxury brand community by serving as a platform for philanthropy. POC will be supporting several carefully chosen charities with global initiatives and fund-raising events, sending forth a newly refurbished yacht into the global marketplace as an ambassador of the superyacht community.
The Ports of Cause ™ program, founded by Joyce Clear of Clear Group International and managed by a Board of Directors, is facilitating world-class yacht refits. The refits, partially funded through state-of-the-art product donations and corporate sponsorships, will result in renovated yachts that will serve as global mobile showcases of superior design, innovation, technology, and luxury brands. Once a participating yacht completes a refit, the vessel will travel to key locations, raising donations for charitable initiatives by hosting Red Carpet VIP events. Charitable organizations currently benefiting from the POC program operate global ocean conservation and clean water programs, including Ecomundi Ventures, Models for Water, International SeaKeepers Society, and Plant-a-Fish, with more to come.
The first, and flagship, vessel participating in the program is The Highlander, the renowned classic 116′ motor boat owned by Victor Muller, President of Skyper Cars. Launched in 1967 by DeVries, The Highlander was the third Feadship built for Malcolm Forbes. The famous entrepreneur entertained royalty, presidents, prime ministers, heads of industry, celebrities, and visionaries around the world on the yacht.
The Highlander will be paired with Posh, a rare 52′ classic commuter boat built in 1937 that was designed by the renowned naval architect John L. Hacker. Posh, currently owned by acclaimed collector F. Todd Warner, will serve as the official vintage tender for The Highlander at POC events. Ports of CauseTM will be participating in major global boat shows and its own fundraising events in 2013, starting with the Miami International Boat Show in February 2013.
