Northcoast Yachts History

Northcoast Yachts History

Seattle–based Northcoast Yachts has a reputation for building exquisite yachts, finished down to the Northcoast Yachts Historylast inch in ways that most yacht companies would not even consider offering. For company owner Steve Yadvish, such meticulous attention to detail is just the way he operates. Yadvish purchased Northcoast Yachts’ assets and reopened the company in 2003, bringing with him the wealth of knowledge he had garnered over the past 15 years as the founder and operator of Yachtfish Marine, where he designed and built mega yachts, high tech maxi boats and high performance speedboats. With the combination of Yadvish’s meticulousness and Northcoast designer Paul Fredrickson’s inspired designs, Northcoast Yachts has built a loyal following that continues to grow.

Northcoast Yachts would not be positioned where it is today without the lessons Yadvish learned at Yachtfish Marine. Yachtfish provides yacht repair and construction services, offering custom boat manufacturing, repair, and restoration, in addition to moorage slip and yacht brokerage services. Yadvish’s time spent performing yacht refit projects informs his approach to new builds. “At the repair yard, we see boats from many builders as they really are used, and we fix a lot of problems that are the result of errors or shortcuts in their design and construction,” says Yadvish “What we learn from these projects can be applied to our new builds as a way to maintain consistently high-quality standards.”

Yadvish has what has been described as a show car mentality, taking as much care finishing parts that cannot be seen as he does with those on display. This meticulous approach to boatbuilding reveals itself in a level of detailing on Northcoast ships that is unique in the yachting world. Yadvish goes the extra mile with touches like isolating exhaust pipes from the hull with heavy rubber grommets to attenuate noise and vibration; grounding, fairing and painting the fiberglass in lockers; and even grinding and gel-coating the entire interior of the hull. While the costs of such obsessive attention to detail can be a difficult sell to many yacht buyers, it results in the peerlessly high level of quality that Northcoast purchasers have come to value.
