Holland Yachts’ History

Holland Yachts’ History

Holland Yachts' HistoryHappy Fourth of July! Today we look at the history of Holland Yachts, an American design firm based in Seattle, Washington, that has been in the business of designing and supervising the building of motor yachts since 1986. Noted designer Brian Holland’s signature brilliance is easily seen in his vessels, which he designs then supervises as various shipyards in North America and Asia accomplish the builds. Because Holland deals with shipyards from around the world, carefully choosing the shipyard for each vessel, they are able to use the yard best suited to each individual project. Highly acclaimed and building a strong following, Brian Holland-designed vessels combine exceptional styling, innovative features, and construction integrity that is second to none.

While Holland Yachts’ history officially begins in 1986, its roots trace back to Brian Holland’s childhood spent on Bainbridge Island, Washington, growing up in a boating family who fostered his lifelong love of boats. After obtaining a degree in aeronautical engineering, Holland worked for Boeing for several years before his boating passion drew him to a boat brokerage firm in Seattle in 1976. Drawing on his engineering background and years of yachting experience, he was soon designing yachts that were built by several shipyards around the world. Holland moved to Fraser Yachts in 1998 before taking a sabbatical to design and supervise the construction of 68’ Spirata Yachts, prized for their innovative, workable designs.

Designing Spirata Yachts led Brian Holland to his latest project, Holland Yachts. His lifelong boating experience led to the creation of his innovative, user-friendly designs and features, many of which are only found on Holland Yachts. Holland Yachts offers several lines of yachts, with features and styling perfectly fit to each models’ purpose but individualized to fit their owners’ unique tastes. Holland Yachts’ Signature Series, sleek, contemporary styled luxury yachts in the 53’ – 90’ range, offer uncommon features such as power side doors that slide back into the feature boards, tender garages that accommodate up to 15′ tenders, and optional power sliding flybridge hard tops. Holland also offers retro sedans, a line of Pilothouse Yachts, and even a line of tenders, featuring a unique and innovative airless tube design, sufficient seating room for up to eight people, and luxurious touches like a folding boarding platform and a heated seat option.
