Christensen Yachts’ History

Christensen Yachts’ History

Christensen Yachts' History

Christensen Yachts, one of the industry’s leaders in the construction of composite fiberglass yachts, came into being almost by accident. Upon retiring from a lifelong career in the construction industry in 1982, Dave Christensen sought to commission a yacht for his personal use. When he was unable to find a company that would perform to his high standards, Christensen set out to build the yacht himself. He partnered with Westport Shipyards to build the hull while he did all the finish work. Before the yacht was finished, Christensen was inundated with offers to purchase the vessel. A second and third yacht received similar receptions and Christensen realized he had a true talent for yacht design.

In July of 1985, Christensen Yachts was incorporated and by 1986 Christensen Yachts’ shipyard was officially open for business. Christensen Yachts produces entirely custom-built luxury motor yachts from 100′ to 165′ at its modern state-of-the-art facility on the Columbia River in Vancouver, Washington. All phases of yacht construction are performed in-house by skilled artisans of multiple disciplines, including fiberglass workers, metal fabricators, mechanics, plumbers, electricians, cabinetmakers, and finish carpenters.

Over the course of Christensen Yachts’ history, the shipyard has constructed over 120 certified composite yachts over its decorated history, earning them the position of world leader in this demanding class of construction. Treasured for their elegant lines and customized luxury, Christensen Yachts are an enduring symbol of excellence and class. Every Christensen Yacht is a shining example of how completely customized construction can deliver the utmost style and design tailored to perfection.
