In the years that I have been working here I have seen our captains confidently and precisely pull of some amazing stunts. One of the first times that I realized how good these guys are was when I was moving a recent sold boat to the marina at our main office. In order to get into a tricky corner slip we had to move another yacht’s lines off a piling which, not surprisingly for yachting, turned into a scene. Luckily, with one of our captains at the helm of a 82′ motoryacht, he kept the bow inches from the piling (with wind and current against him) until the mate could move the lines. And this is just one story of the success of our captains.
The other day I was out on a sea trial on a 47′ Intrepid that we have for sale with one of our captains and thought I would take a picture. It was a beautiful winter day in Fort Lauderdale. The sun was shining bright and it was breezy in the high 70’s. It was a bit choppy, with 3 foot waves, but we were all pleased with how well the Intrepid 475 handled, even at 41 knots. Dennis also was with me when we moved a 40′ Meridian from Lighthouse Point to our marina, and when we sea trialed the 88′ Sunseeker Yacht. On the water for the past 40 years, he has all sorts of stories about the yachts he has piloted.
