At Atlantic Yacht & Ship we work with a lot of performance motor yachts and therefore we come across lots of yachts that feature arneson stern drives. There are several advantages that a yacht benefits from when its engines have been matched to arneson drives. They are surface drives and therefore reduce the overall draft of the vessel, especially when planed-off at cruising speed. Also, there is a speed advantage and models that feature arneson drives versus regular shaft-drives will have a few extra knots depending on the yacht. They also change the way the boat handles since there is no rudder; the entire shaft moves. A sign that a boat has surface drives is called a “rooster rail” which is when you see a boat cruising fast and there is a tall white spray of water behind it!
I have a 50′ Baia Classic for sale which is a 2000HP arneson drive boat. She can hit speeds up to 50MPH which allow her to cruise from Marco Island, FL to Key West, FL in about 2.5 hours at 0.6 mpg. She has been lovingly maintained by her owner over the past eight years but he doesn’t use her as much as he used to and he would like to get her sold to another loving owner. She handles great and has a full maintenance record. She has been refit, inside and out, her soft goods are in excellent condition, she has a custom hard-top, large sunbed, extreme stereo system and is really clean. One master stateroom and one guest stateroom with two berths along with a nice dining area and galley. The wood looks great and is in excellent condition. We just reduced our price to $295,000 and I encourage all offers! Check out the video below!

If you are looking for a boutique Italian performance yacht builder like Baia, we also have a 43′ Baia One for sale down in Miami. This boat is also arneson drive so it is perfect for coastal cruising. For a 43′ boat, I was really surprised how beamy this boat was and the second you see the cockpit deck it is stunningly spacious and wide. She has a great layout for entertaining with a social helm location, convertible dining / bar area, and lots of space. Down in the cabin, she has contemporary styling and solid functionality. We just reduced the price by $25k and we are now asking $399,000.
We also have bank-owned opportunities in Italy on pedigree performance yachts including Baia. Be sure to check out our last blog on repossessions.
