One of the more recent trends in the boating scene gaining more momentum are boat clubs. Although the concept of boat sharing has been around since the 1980’s, it has progressed and expanded into different types of clubs. With nearly 1 out of 4 Americans enjoying the leisure and adventure of recreational boating, it makes sense that networks exist to share and enhance the overall experience. Boat club memberships vary and are located all around the country. What types of boat clubs are out there? There are three main types: 1.       Yacht Clubs- mainly consists of boat owners seeking out friendships and networking through social functions and activities. Yacht Clubs have been around for a while, and there are several well established ones in the South Florida area. 2.       Sailing Clubs- these are great for sailing enthusiasts who want to rent a sail boat, clubs lend vessels for a fee. 3.       Water Sports Clubs- club members may or may not own boats, but take part in weekend or seasonal activities included in memberships. Whatever you may be looking for, there is a niche for you.  Florida alone boasts some of the best boat clubs in the nation, located in Fort Lauderdale, Tampa and Miami. Yacht and boat clubs are a great way to network and find out the latest in boat rentals, yachts for sale, Florida yacht charters and staying connected to the community as a whole. How much does it cost? Membership fees vary, from monthly, yearly or even seasonal fees. Each club will have a slightly different approach and feel, depending on what you’re looking for. The experiences available are truly unlimited. Ranging from the obvious boating events such as racing, fishing and sailing, to more specific like fundraising, culinary/wine events, and even eco-friendly environmental activities, the variety of experiences are endless!  Clubs are a fantastic way to keep in touch with the international and local boating community.
