The Sunseeker USA East team just returned from the 2012 Sunseeker Salesmen Training seminar at the Sunseeker factory in Poole, U.K. Although there are many exciting things happening at the factory, such as the continued progress on the Sunseeker 155 Yacht and the launch of the all new 80′ Sunseeker Predator, a lot of attention was paid to our newest entry-level model, the Sunseeker 40 Portofino. The second hull ever launched had just been removed from the water for a few last-minute touches when we were able to get aboard and feel out this latest model. Although the vessel is relatively “small” when compared to some of our other models, one thing was very clear: that the quality throughout the vessel stands up to the quality found in our much larger models. The entire sunroof essentially opens providing for a well lit cockpit deck. Down below, there is a master suite forward, a very well outfit galley and dining area (again, with the same quality materials found in other models) and spacious guest suite aft with over-sized windows that flood daylight in over the convertible berthing system.
Because of the size of the vessel, one slight difference in producing this vessel versus our larger models is that they flip the hull mold on its side for the fiberglass layering process. This allows two workers to systematically lay the fiberglass down the side of the hull and speeds up the production process slightly. It is an impressive production layout as an entire warehouse has been dedicated to producing the 40′ Portofino.
