The motor yacht Eclipse is currently under construction and is set to become the world’s largest yacht when she is completed and delivered later this year. The details of the superyacht are kept extremely private, but rumors are flying that the owner of the world’s largest yacht is Russian billionaire Roman Abrahamovich.
The Eclipse first hit the water in June 2009 and is currently being built at the Blohm + Voss Hamburg shipyard in Germany with interiors by the world-renowned London company Terence Disdale Design.
The length of the world’s largest superyacht is estimated to be between 531 to 558 feet! All details are up to speculation, but the Eclipse is rumored to be able to accommodate 62 guests in 24 luxury cabins, and can hold up to 92 crew members. The superyacht supposedly includes a private leisure submarine and an adjustable depth swimming pool that can be converted into a dance floor. Others luxurious features include a Jacuzzi, an exterior fireplace and two helicopter landing pads that can accommodate up to three helicopters.
According to a Norwegian newspaper, the Eclipse is set to undergo sea trials in Kristiansand, Norway for a week in mid-May. When the motor yacht is completed later in 2010, she will officially be named Number 1 in the Superyachts World’s Largest Yachts list, beating out the current record holder Dubai, launched in 2006.
