Last model year we had a lot of activity on the 48′ Sunseeker Portofino. Seeing all the interest in that size boat, Sunseeker has decided to come out with another sports cruiser known as the Portofino 40. Marking the return to this enry level length after some years absence, the new Portofino 40 is the result of a long hard study of a highly competitive market sector, and the upshot is an absolute class leading all-rounder. One of the selling points of the more entry level Sunseeker models is that the same quality and craftsmanship that goes into the 155 Yacht goes into every other model. Therefore, standing in the saloon of this boat you still can sense the attention to detail that went into constructing this performance cruiser. Also, along with the large windows going through the larger yacht models, this boat still has some stunning views from inside. The light that is added by the large windows changes the entire feel of the interior of the vessel and even the forward cabin has a good view!
Every inch a Sunseeker, standards of design, build, finish, and fitting are as on any in the range, so when she launches in the summer she’ll be surrounded by marina envy. In plan she’s a two cabin, four + one berth, family or friends boat with central saloon, galley and twin access head and shower room. Beyond the exquisite owner stateroom foward, the surprise is the headroom and huge hullside windowns in the amidships cabin with its twin beds and third, child’s berth. Back on deck, the large cockpit is key, made even bigger by clever convertible seating enhancing forward observation and also sunpad extension. For choice of sun or shade there’s an optional hardtop with electrically operated, sliding, fabric roof. Sterndrives rather than pods but still with joystick point-and-park control allow her to reach speeds up to 34 knots.
